PurposeLung transplant (LTx) is limited by a supply of donor lungs. Donor lungs from smokers are known to have adverse effects on early post-LTx outcomes (Oto et al, 2004). As long-term survival remains under assessed we investigated the effect smoking LTx and death chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) using cohort described Oto al.Methods173 bilateral recipient records between 1995-2002 were retrospectively reviewed. 97 (56.1%) donors had ceased or never smoked 76 (43.9%) current smokers.
